COURTNEY TAYLOR
Candidate for Ward 4 Councillor
Stouffville found us during a hard season. We moved here in the middle of the pandemic, when I was a new mom, and this community welcomed us. I found friends through my daughter's daycare and later through her school. I found neighbours who check in on each other, drop off soup from Reesor's when you're unwell, and share not only backyard playsets and trampolines, but friendship too.
I found a home.
Since then, I've spent my days here raising my daughter, caring for my mother in a home with three generations under one roof, and showing up where I can: in classrooms, on parent council, helping neighbours, and supporting local businesses.
I have always cared about people and social issues; that's reflected in my 8 years of mental health advocacy work at both the provincial and federal level, lobbying governments and helping bring important stories into the public conversation. I've spent years being the person who shows up, who listens carefully, and who turns caring into action. That same care is what's driving me to run for Ward 4 Councillor. After almost 20 years working in operations and procurement for the same global organization, I bring strong skills in research, risk management, negotiation, problem-solving, and getting real value for every dollar spent; the same rigour I'd bring to reviewing a town contract or capital project.
That's the lens I bring to this campaign: not politics as a theory, but politics as it touches everyday life. The playground your child plays at. The road you worry about when they bike to a friend's house. The grocery bill that keeps climbing. The swim lesson you can't get into.
It's a stage of life I feel is important to have represented where decisions are being made, since it reflects the every day that so many residents are currently navigating.
But it's not only young families I think about; it’s also the neighbour I run errands for, who helped build this town long before I arrived and deserves a council that continues to see, support, and value her.
These aren't small things. They're the everyday moments that shape a family's week, or a life lived here for decades. Ward 4 deserves to have someone at the table that understands those moments, not from a distance, but because I’m living them, too.
I'm running because for me, representation isn't just a job description. It's about understanding what it takes to build a life here – right now.
This is home. Let's build what's next for it, together.
Why I’m Running
Taylor-Made for Ward 4.
Thoughtful leadership for a growing community.
What Ward 4 Deserves
-
Real progress is already underway — Courtney will make sure Ward 4 sees it through.
-
Ward 4 should be within reach for everyone — today's residents and tomorrow's.
-
Growth is exciting. But new homes need new services, infrastructure, and green space to match.
-
Better GO service isn't just about commuting — it's about connecting our community to opportunity.
-
Data centres, power grids, and water supply; Ward 4 needs a voice at the regional table.

Ideas for a Stronger Ward 4
Beyond Courtney's platform, she carries a broader vision for what Ward 4 could be: ideas rooted in community, connection, and the belief that the best neighbourhoods are built by people who show up for each other.
-
One idea close to Courtney's heart: a program connecting children with retirement home residents for shared activities: arts and crafts, reading, gardening, games. Two generations with so much to offer each other, brought together in the community we share. This isn't a council initiative, it's a community one. And she'd love to help make it happen.
-
The Glad Park school community has been maintaining an aging playground largely through parent council fundraising. The parent council has been working hard to find a path forward, but the community deserves more than a patchwork solution. Courtney will advocate for a dedicated municipal park serving the Glad Park neighbourhood, a community space that belongs to everyone.

Ward 4 has a leash-free dog park on Rougeview Avenue, and for residents in the southern part of the ward, it works well. But for families living further north, it's close to an hour's walk away. As Ward 4 grows northward, it would be wonderful to see a second off-leash space, ideally situated near other ward boundaries to serve residents from multiple communities. With the Town's Parks Plan currently being developed, now is a great time to start that conversation.
